Doctoral degree discipline: Biological sciences

Awarding institution: National University of Cordoba, Argentina (2015)

Current postdoctoral position/field: Postdoctoral fellow / entomology

Auburn University department: Entomology & Plant Pathology (College of Agriculture)

Postdoctoral faculty mentor: Dr. Geoffrey Williams

Areas of research:

My research focuses on understanding the complex interactions between environmental factors and management practices that influence the dispersal of Varroa mites, one of the most significant pest affecting honey bee colonies worldwide. During my Ph.D., I investigated key environmental and management drivers that contribute to the spread of Varroa mites, helping to identify factors that can inform more effective pest management strategies.

Currently, I am involved in several projects at the Bee Center, exploring alternative strategies for Varroa mite control. These efforts aim to reduce reliance on chemical treatments and promote more sustainable beekeeping practices.

In addition, together with Dr. Geoffrey Williams and Dr. Selina Bruckner, I coordinate the annual U.S. Beekeeping Survey. This nationwide project estimates honey bee colony losses and documents the main management practices used by beekeepers across the United States.
