Patrick Reed, RTTP
Short Bio
Patrick Reed, executive director of IPX, joined Auburn University at the end of 2023. He leads IPX’s three core teams—commercialization, IP agreements and operations—and strives to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on and around campus.
Patrick has spent the entirety of his career focused on advancing innovations resulting from academic research into the commercial marketplace. Beyond traditional academic tech transfer, Patrick recognizes the importance of “feeding the top of the funnel” and makes business development and industry partnering a strong focus of his efforts. Patrick considers himself a translational research enabler and works to matchmake Auburn investigators with external partners.
Patrick earned a master’s degree in biotechnology from the Kellogg Center for Biotechnology at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in biology (with a minor in chemistry) from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) and has worked in the technology transfer offices at the LSU AgCenter, Georgia Tech, LSU Health New Orleans and Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
