    Short Bio

    John Miner, Senior Licensing Officer, joined IPX in spring of 2025. With over 25 years of experience in research administration and technology transfer, John has successfully managed more than 500 domestic and international patents from initial disclosure through issuance. He has negotiated and executed agreements with partners and licensees ranging from student and faculty startups to Fortune 100 companies.

    Leveraging a strong foundation in the physical sciences, John is expanding his expertise in life sciences at Auburn. His professional interests include forestry, ecology, and agricultural innovation. A dedicated advocate for higher education, John actively contributes to AUTM, the non-profit leader in efforts to educate, promote, and inspire professionals to support the development of academic research that changes the world and drives innovation forward. He currently serves as AUTM’s Chair of Metrics and Surveys. In this role, he oversees the publication of AUTM’s Annual Licensing Survey and bi-annual Salary Survey. 

    John holds a master’s degree in research administration from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in Space Studies, also from UCF. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoorsman and supporter of Scouting, believing that time spent in nature is essential for personal well-being and growth.
